Issue 29 PDF Edition

New Order are our cover stars this month. We caught up with frontman Bernard Sumner for an exclusive chat about the band’s perpetual staying power, as well as their upcoming live album, the don’t-miss shows in Manchester this summer and his keynote speech at the International Music Summit in Ibiza later this month.
We also talk to their long-time associate, Mark Reeder, who has provided our latest limited edition seven-inch single. Coming on clear vinyl, the single features the previously unreleased ‘Academic (Mark Reeder’s Akademixxx)’ backed with ‘Mauerstadt (RIAS Mix)’, a sneak preview from Mark’s new album. The single is only available with Electronic Sound magazine and will not be commercially released or available in shops. It’s a very limited edition and is expected to sell-out fast. Pre-order now to avoid disappointment.
Elsewhere in the issue we sit down with Saint Etienne and spoke about their delicious new album ‘Home Counties’ as discover the rules to a game they used to play on tour called £1 Newsagent.
We take a trip to the secret HQ of sound specialists Coda To Coda, and get the low-down on their inventive soundscape they created for The Science Museum’s ‘Robots’ exhibition (take a trip back to issue 27 and our robots special for more information on that).
Jane Weaver talks us through the thinking behind her newest LP ‘Modern Kosmology’, we get down and dirty with Wax Trax! Records, and reveal that ABBA (yes, you are reading that correctly) were the synth pioneers you were maybe not expecting.
All that and the regular synthy goodness you can rely on from Electronic Sound, the best new tech and toys, a bumper album reviews section, and so much more.
