Description

Cosmic Ground is German multi-instrumentalist Dirk Jan Müller, who has been a key member of psychedelic krautrockers Electric Orange for the last 25 years or so. Slightly confusingly, ‘5’ is Müller’s 12th album as Cosmic Ground and is a fabulous collection of dark and minimal ambient electronica created using his beloved Moog modular system, as well as a Mellotron, a Farfisa organ and more. With track titles such as ‘Sludge’ and ‘Girls From Outer Space’, it’s perfect for exploring an alien craft covered in slime while hoping you don’t get your face eaten off. And if that hasn’t tempted you, how about the fact that ‘5’ is a limited edition black/green marbled vinyl pressing on Polytechnic Youth’s ultra-hip sister label Deep Distance, which takes its name from a track on Ashra’s debut album, ’New Age Of Earth’.
