The next Outlands tour, which starts Thursday 13 June, will feature Fracture Patterns, the live collaboration between UK duo Semiconductor (made up of Ruth Jarman and Joe Gerhardt) and New York producer Eartheater (alias of Alexandra Drewchin).
Commissioned by the Outlands Network, the original piece will see the group combine live soundtrack and performance (Eartheater) with multi-channel video works (Semiconductor) for an experience that aims to be “open, absorbing and moving”.
There’ll also be an additional opportunity for the audience to participate in a free vocal workshop with Drewchin, and ultimately take part in the Fracture Patterns performance. Drewchin will “guide participants through contrasting zones and unconventional vocal spaces in a voyage to discover where noise, scale, range and tone have the potential to transform into chaos”. You don’t need any prior singing experience and participants are encouraged to come with “an open mind and adventurous spirit”.
