OMD have launched a PledgeMusic campaign for a new hardback book to celebrate the group’s 40th anniversary. ‘Pretending To See The Future’ is an oral history of OMD, mixing together memories from Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys with those of their various collaborators and associates over the years, as well as anecdotes from hundreds of fans. It will also contain hundreds of photos, many of them taken from the band’s private archives.
All early pre-orders for the book on Pledge Music will also receive an exclusive limited edition flexi disc featuring a previously unheard demo of ‘Messages’. The demo dates from the summer of 1978, before McCluskey and Humphreys had actually formed OMD. It was recorded in a garage studio owned by their school friend Paul Collister, who subsequently became the group’s manager, and features an electronic drum kit built by Humphreys.
‘Pretending To See The Future’ costs £35 and will be published in November. Click here to get more information and pre-order your copy.
