Experimental American musician Jlin will be providing a live electronic score to Wayne McGregor’s ‘Autobiography’ at Sadler’s Wells in London for three nights at the end of July. Based on the sequencing of his own genome, McGregor describes the 80-minute ‘Autobiography’ as a “dance portrait” that is constantly reimagined, the running order of the various sections of the piece being algorithmically assembled from a collection of 23 choreographies that unfold uniquely at each performance.
This is the second time that Company Wayne McGregor have brought ‘Autobiography’ to the Sadler’s Wells stage, having premiered the work at the famous London theatre last October, again with Jlin contributing live electronics. McGregor has previously worked with the likes of Jon Hopkins and Max Richter, while Jlin’s most recent album, ‘Black Origami’ on Planet Mu, features collaborations with Holly Herndon and minimalist legend William Basinski.
‘Autobiography’ takes place at Sadler’s Wells on 26, 27 and 28 July. For more information and ticket details please click here.
