Live set up
Bachar Mar-Khalifé is a French-Lebanese artist who straddles the world of high art, thanks to his Conservatoire de Paris classical music education, and electronic music, which has led him to collaborate with Carl Craig among others. His father is the well-known oud player Marcel Khalifé, and his brother is in the band Aufgang.

Check out his latest video, beautifully shot and rich in imagery and metaphor, including a slightly NSFW scene and a piano getting axed. Hmm, what can it all mean?

It’s something of a timely reminder of the contribution to French culture by its immigrant population. Mar-Khalifé was born in Beirut and arrived in France aged six after his family fled the fighting there.

The album which is out now, is called ‘Ya Ballad’ and is out via InFine. Order it here http://www.roughtrade.com/albums/97292
