Depeche Mode are set to headline the 6 Music Festival 2017 in Glasgow. The band are set to play the 2,000 capacity Barrowland Ballroom on Sunday 26 March as part of the digital radio station’s three-day festival.
Along with a date at RTL Studios in Paris on 21 March, it will be first live sighting of the Basildon outfit since their ‘Delta Machine’ tour wound up in 2014 and will see the live debut of material from the new album ‘Spirit’ ahead of the first date of their world tour in Stockholm on 5 May. The album is due for release on 17 March and is reviewed in the new issue of Electronic Sound.
The show is huge coup for 6 Music, with Depeche Mode returning to Barrowland’s for the first time in more than 30 years. Their last show at the venue was on 16 October 1984, when they were promoting their fourth album, ‘Some Great Reward’.
The three-day 6 Music Festival also includes live shows from Goldfrapp, Bonobo, Anna Meredith and Cate Le Bon among others. Tickets for the event go on sale at 10am on Friday, 24 March 2017. Click here for details.
